Hi,

I don't know what passages you are talking about. I often see an open mouth (not a loose jaw) for high notes in Overdrive. I think he uses a few modes (maybe every one). I mostly hear Overdrive and a bit of Edge and Neutral.

I hear hardly any Curbing. There may a vowel here and there but like most singers, he is constantly changing between modes.
I hear mainly Overdrive, Edge and Neutral on the highest notes towards the end.
The mouth is opened due to darker sound color in the middle range and due to acoustics in the high part of the voice, where we need to open it (and show more and more teeth) to get out the mode and volume.
Mark how much lighter his sound color is on the higher notes (twang).
