CVI totally should make "how to sing like" videos!

Hi CVI,
I guess you're aware that youtube is full of singing teachers making instruction videos on how to imitate your favorite singers, "how to sing like Jon Bon Jovi", "how to sing like Bruno Mars", and so on. I find that these videos are very helpful to watch, if you take their instructions with a grain of salt. They are obviously good singers, and probably good teachers too if you were to take a one-on-one lesson with them. Generally they are fairly good at demonstrating the actual style of singing, too. But their terminology and their own idea of what they think they are doing - well, it's all over the place! They may tell you to sing nasally when they mean twang, they usually think twang is a mode and they seem oblivious there's difference between curbing, edge, MLN and overdrive. They have no ideas how effects are produced, and so on, and so on. That's why I always check back with the CVT book whenever they make a claim about some term. What they do, however, is sing in centered modes - without being aware of it, of course - without effects, which makes it fairly easy to sing along.

Some of you CVI teachers really should do the same! You would totally dominate those other videos with the precision of the instructions, clarity, non-posing, plus being able to back up all you say with facts. And it would probably send the books flying off the shelves, too! :D

Hi Dino, you bring up an interesting idea and I do think you are on to something.
I could imagine that when CVT enters for ex. USA to a greater extend, it might be necessary with an approach like that to optimize marketing.
Thanx for the thought.

Regards
Kaare

Agreed, most of those videos are a pain to watch (the only guy I do like that does those is actually a great singer, Daniel Formica is his name).
These are the guys I found that have good mastery of what they are attempting to do (unlike that Ken Tamplin fellow, who just makes my ears bleed):

Off the top of my head, very few good singers in youtube, specially the ones 'teaching'.

Hehe, thanks Kaare. I wars Ohly acting in my own best interest. These are the kind of videos I would like to see myself. Now I have to mentally translate what they're saying into cvt terms, and filter out - to be honest- most of what they're saying because it's only a mental image that happens to work for them.
